Nick Hildebrand / Tuesday, March 20, 2018 / Categories: All News, Arts & Letters, Music Concert features Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble The Grove City College Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The concert features a number of hymns and inspirational compositions, including “Be Still My Soul, Variations on Lobe Den Hernn,” “On Angels Wings” by Barry Milner and “Trumpets and Bridges” by Thomas Doss. In addition, Grove City College Radio Director Darren J. Morton will narrate fables from Aesop, woven into wonderful work by American composer Scott Watson. Dr. Joseph M. Pisano , professor of Music and director of bands, will conduct the group. Student conductor Alina Santiago ’18 of Broad Run, Va., will be directing “Abram's Pursuit” a very lively composition by David R. Holsinger. A reception will follow with the conductors and members of the ensembles in the Pew Memorial Room adjacent to the concert hall. The concert is free and open to the public. Nearby parking is available. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Department of Music at Grove City College prepares students for careers in music, provide lesson and ensemble opportunities for majors and non-majors alike and shares the glory of music with the campus and community. Students deepen their knowledge through opportunities such as symphonic band and wind ensemble.
