Do you dream of a career in music? Perhaps you hope to play with a symphony orchestra, record original albums, direct a high school band, or teach third graders how to play piano. Regardless of your career aspirations, you will be prepared to lead and influence the hearts and minds of those around you using your gifts of music. Here, you will be guided to make the most of your talents and use them to inspire and uplift others — whether on stage or in the recording studio, sanctuary, or classroom. You will be able to approach music as an expression of worship and live out your faith as you pursue your calling.

Our program offers you a well-rounded curriculum with exposure to theory, music history, and conducting, as well as freedom to specialize in an area of interest through private lessons. You will have abundant opportunities to put theory into practice through participation in our many ensembles — including touring choir, symphony orchestra, Wolverine Marching Band, jazz ensemble, trumpet ensemble, and flute choir, many of which perform at national and state conferences. You can take advantage of conducting and leadership opportunities — typically reserved for graduate students at most large institutions. Additionally, you will benefit from our first-rate facilities that create space for collaboration and individual growth — including the 700-seat Ketler Auditorium, Parker Organ Studio, and Arnold Recital Hall, as well as the music education suite, music technology lab, black box theatre, and ample practice rooms.

With varying backgrounds as professional artists and educators, our faculty serve as mentors who care about your personal and professional development. From freshman through senior year, you will have private music lessons with the same faculty instructor every semester in your primary area of voice, piano, or instrument. You will also build relationships with your professors through everyday interactions in the classroom, performance experiences, and casual conversations in the Pew Fine Arts Center, the hub of musical life at Grove City College.

Our music department naturally fosters community and will become a place where some of your richest friendships are forged. As you cultivate relationships with peers and faculty, you will also be able to network with professional musicians and music educators through workshops. In addition, you will be able to grow professionally through internships and research with faculty in the areas of music history and music theory. Recently, we’ve had students present with faculty at state or national conferences on topics such as autism in music, hearing loss in music, and hearing loss in music majors. Unique opportunities like these — typically only available to graduate-level students at larger institutions — will equip you to stand out to future employers and graduate schools.

For the class of 2025, 100% of our music graduates were employed or in graduate school six months after graduation. You will be prepared to compete for rewarding full-time positions or entry into top graduate programs at institutions such as Yale, Notre Dame, and Peabody Conservatory. Theatre Program

All Grove City College students, regardless of major, are welcome to audition for theatre productions and work on any production crew. They are also able to minor in theatre or musical theatre, regardless of their major.
