Faithfulness to our 1876 founding purpose is one of our core values, and it is central to our unique higher education story. Daily, we seek to be faithful to our mission to equip students to pursue their unique callings through an academically excellent and Christ-centered learning and living experience. This dedication through the years of the Grove City College community, including nearly 29,000 alumni, has led us to the pinnacle of nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences colleges. Our road has not been easy, but extraordinary accomplishment rarely is. Faithfulness to our mission led us to and through a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case in the 1980s. Today, faithfulness to our mission creates educational outcomes that employers and graduate schools find highly desirable.
Although much has changed since our founding year and the centennial birthday of the Declaration of Independence, we maintain our Christian identity. Our home is still a picturesque 180-acre campus just north of Pittsburgh, designed by America’s premiere landscape architects responsible for many of the most famous parks and common grounds. We remain an independent higher education pioneer relying on private funding, eschewing federal aid, to preserve our mission for serving the common good.
Here, they share a symbiotic relationship. Our tradition of academic excellence prepares you to respond to your unique calling. Likewise, our learning and living experience promotes a distinctly Christian worldview. Because at Grove City College, making the grade isn’t just about achievements in the classroom—it’s about choosing to lead a purposeful, contributive life beyond the years spent on campus.
