The Trio Nova Mundi will present a
concert on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Pew Fine
Arts Center at Grove City College. The concert is free and open to the public.
The string players of Trio Nova Mundi, violinist Maureen
Conlon Gutierrez and cellist Elisa Kohanski, are adjunct faculty members in the
Department of Music and Fine Arts and are joined by Pittsburgh pianist Becky
The trio will perform the Beethoven Trio, Opus 1, No. 3,
Café Music by Paul Schoenfield, and “Voces de mi Tierra,” a trio Elisenda
Fabregas originally written for the flute, cello and piano. Fabregas has
recently reworked the piece for the violin, cello and piano specifically for
Trio Nova Mundi, and the concert on April 30, will be the premiere of the new
version of the piece.
Trio Nova Mundi is committed to community outreach and the
goal of bringing musical appreciation to younger audiences across the globe. In
addition to performances in the United States, the trio is actively planning a
tour to South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe for August and September 2013,
where they will perform concerts and engage in educational outreach.
