Grove City College to hold Awesome Authors awards ceremony

The Grove City College chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, a national education honorary, will hold an awards ceremony for the spring Awesome Authors program on Friday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters. The winners, families and administrators of the contest will be in attendance.

The Awesome Authors program contest is held twice a year. The fall contest is held for students in fourth through eighth grade, and the spring contest is for kindergarten through third grade.

This year, the contest had 526 story entries and selected 82 winners. The participants spanned 21 schools from 10 districts.

Overall winners for each grade will be announced at the ceremony and each winner will receive scholastic prizes including a selection of literature, a journal and a medal.

This is the 15th year the education honorary has sponsored the event. In 2011, the program received the Biggest Impact on a Community award, one of three national awards presented by the Kappa Delta Pi headquarters.

The program is part of the Literacy Alive service program initiated by the Kappa Delta Pi organization.
