Welcome to Harbison Chapel. The following guidelines have been established on the basis of past experience and are designed to help you plan for your special day.

The College Organist or Assistants shall play for all weddings for which organ music is desired. The couple is urged to select the processional and recessional wedding marches well in advance. The selections should be made through contacting your organist. Organist assignment will be mailed to you several months prior to your wedding date. As a matter of policy, popular or "contemporary" tunes are not used for processionals and recessionals, but may be integrated into the wedding service at some other point. The wedding couple is responsible for getting any necessary sheet music to the Organist approximately one month before the wedding ceremony.

Organist fees:
$200.00 for wedding service and rehearsal--playing for soloist included if there is a soloist.

It is not mandatory that an organist be present at your wedding, and the Organist fee will be waived only if there is no music of any sort required of the Organist. If instrumentalists are to be accompanied by the Organist, they must contact him/her in advance. Unless they have made special arrangements with the Organist in advance, all vocalists and instrumentalists must attend the wedding rehearsal if they are to be accompanied by the Organist during the ceremony. Should you not have any requirements for an Organist, please indicate this to the Chapel Administrative Office as an assignment will be made two to three months prior to your wedding date. This notification will be mailed to you. If you are planning to use pre-recorded music of any kind, we must be informed in advance for assignment of a college sound technician.

Sound Technician:
A mandatory College-employed sound technician will be assigned to attend both your rehearsal and wedding at no additional cost.  He/she will setup and adjust all microphones, as well as playback any pre-recorded music you may supply.  To help facilitate a smooth technical experience for your important day, we ask you to identify your anticipated AV needs via the enclosed “Tech Checklist” so this technician can prepare to assist you.  Please return the completed checklist to the Chapel Administrative Office one month prior to your wedding.

Standard provisions for all weddings include microphones at the pulpit and lectern, plus wireless lapel mics for the pastor/assisting clergy.  Additional handheld wireless microphones can be supplied for vocalists and instrumentalists when requested.  If you have pre-recorded music on CD, computer or an mp3 player, you must have it ready for the technician at the start of your rehearsal so he/she can connect it to the chapel’s sound system for playback. The sound tech will check microphone and music volume levels and can also work with musicians at the rehearsal to practice their song selections.  Note that only a College-employed sound technician is permitted to operate the sound board and all related AV control system equipment. You will be given this tech’s contact info once an assignment has been made, should you wish to correspond with him/her before your rehearsal.
