Academic advising is transformational in that the important
questions regarding one’s course of study are asked intentionally. An advisor’s
real task is to help students learn for themselves. They help students
understand their own motivations, goals and gifts and make decisions in light of
them. Advisors are committed to seeing
academic advising remain rooted in both a student’s professional aspirations
and vocational calling.
Our faculty collaborate with Student Life and Learning,
Career Services, and College Counseling Offices, among others, to assist
students in a holistic fashion. Advising exists to support, not replace, the
work of faculty advisors. It is in students’ best interest to cultivate a
relationship with their faculty advisors and professors within their
department.
