​During his or her senior year, every mechanical engineering student takes part in a Capstone Design Project. Students work in groups to design and construct a useful and marketable device, while considering social and environmental impact, product packaging, production facilities and methods, and safety concerns. Extensive computer-aided design and manufacturing includes the use of Pro/Engineer to document, analyze, and fabricate designs. Advanced manufacturing techniques include conventional and investment casting, injection molding, CNC machining, and TIG/MIG welding.  ​ ​​
