I knew coming into college I wanted to study abroad. Going overseas gave me a chance to escape the ordinary routine while becoming a global citizen. I had the opportunity to experience so many new things and it shifted my perspective on the world.

It seems like everyday something unique happens to you in a foreign country; something otherwise trivial to daily life becomes special. Just being in a spot realizing you may never get to be there again; like eating breakfast along the canals in Amsterdam or being at the very top of a Cathedral in Germany. It’s the moments that make the experience memorable.

My time abroad has made me realize how resourceful and independent I can be. Before going abroad I couldn’t tell the difference between a tram and a bus, but now I am fully confident navigating a country with a different language and culture. I now know I can achieve so much more than I would have believed before.
