Offering a
wide range of courses, students are given the academic freedom to choose an
applied concentration within the Bachelor of Music degree: Music/Business,
Music/Education, Music and Performing Arts or Music/Religion. The
department also offers minors in music and studio art. Students
also deepen their knowledge through varied ensemble opportunities such as
Chapel Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Wolverine Marching Band, Symphonic Concert
Band, Touring Choir, and Jazz Ensemble and Stage Band.
Respected
and well-connected faculty mentor students as they take advantage of
top-of-the-line performance spaces and cutting-edge technology at Pew Fine Arts
Center, which houses the 700-seat Ketler Auditorium, Miriam Shellito Parker ’52
organ, black-box theatre, recital hall, rehearsal hall, soundproof practice
rooms, technology lab, and complete theatre facilities including a set
construction shop, costume shop and dressing rooms. Auditions for admission to the music program are required, either
in person or by recording.
