B.S. in Nursing (BSN)

Serve patients as a competent, compassionate nurse.

Grove City College offers a robust BSN degree in partnership with Butler County Community College’s Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health. As a student in our accredited four-year nursing program, you will have access to accomplished faculty mentors, excellent medical facilities, real-world experience, and vibrant Christian community on campus.

If you hope to become a registered nurse, or eventually a nurse practitioner, nurse educator, or related specialist, our program offers a unique blend of accredited, high-quality clinical training and an enriching liberal arts core that will set you apart in the working world.  Upon graduating with this Bachelor of Science in Nursing, you will be prepared to provide excellent patient care in a wide range of medical settings — whether you feel called to family practice, primary health care, pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal care, urgent care, emergency care, preventative health care, or another specialty.

Program Structure
  • Year 1: Attend Grove City College, taking pre-nursing and liberal arts courses while building community on our beautiful campus just 60 miles north of Pittsburgh in western Pennsylvania.
  • Year 2: Attend Grove City College while taking nursing classes at Butler County Community College and gaining hands-on clinical experience through professional clinical placements in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and the surrounding region.
  • Year 3: Attend Grove City College while completing the additional nursing classes at BC3 and gaining further hands-on clinical experience through professional placements. Earn an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and be eligible to take the State Board of Nursing Exam to become licensed as a registered nurse.
  • Year 4: Attend Grove City College online and take a flexible course schedule that allows you to “earn while you learn” to finish your BSN degree. You may choose to live on-campus or learn from anywhere.

Due to a federal mandate, the clinical sites affiliated with Butler County Community College require that nursing students be vaccinated for COVID-19 for clinical education that takes place in their affiliate hospital systems.

  • If you decide to pursue further education beyond a bachelor’s degree, you will have the resources available to meet admissions requirements for prestigious graduate-level nursing programs offering MSN, Ph.D., and DNP degrees.
  • No matter where you land, you are sure to stand out in your field as a well-rounded critical thinker and excellent care provider with a mature perspective grounded in Christian principles.
The growing need for nurses.
Nursing is one of the most in-demand professions in the nation, with nurses needed most in the homecare, long-term care, and outpatient and rehabilitation settings. That need is expected to grow in the coming years and decades. By 2025 the number of RN vacancies will surpass 1.2 million, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.

In response to the demand for more and better-educated nurses, Grove City College, in partnership with Butler County Community College, is eager to equip motivated students for God-glorifying impact in this important field.
