Program Highlights
  • Personal access to highly accomplished faculty mentors with wide-ranging experience in human resources, employee benefits, and leadership, as well as a passion for coaching students to success.
  • Industry-standard curriculum quality and program objectives.
  • Internship opportunities in a wide range of professional environments with companies such as Liberty Mutual, Westinghouse, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Hewlett-Packard.
    • Over the past several years, our students have also interned in human resources and employee benefit administration with UPMC, PNC, and Ellwood Group Inc., among others.
  • Opportunities to obtain one or more of the following certifications and offer in-demand expertise to your future employer.
    • Excel: Microsoft Office Specialist
    • Excel: Microsoft Office Expert
    • Lean Six Sigma, IASSC
    • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute
    • Tableau Certification
  • 67 major credit hours of rigorous undergraduate coursework to prepare you for professional success. For detailed descriptions of courses, view the College Catalog.
    • As an HRM major, you will explore topics such as personnel recruitment and selection, EEO laws and regulations, performance management, workplace psychology, dispute resolution, retention strategies, organizational theory, and employee compensation and benefits. You will also be exposed to career opportunities and pathways in human resources, employee benefits and risk management. As you explore different areas of the field, you will regularly engage with faculty in discussions regarding the application of Christian stewardship and biblical principles to leadership and management in today’s workforce.
    • Through included business core courses, you will also build your background in accounting, financial management, marketing, business law, operations, data analysis, and other relevant areas.
    • If you have an interest in human resources but are unsure about it as a career path, or if you develop an HR interest late in your college career, you may prefer our B.S. in Management with a concentration in human resources — designed with more general management courses and greater scheduling flexibility than the B.S. in Human Resource Management.
  • Flexibility to minor in a business-related or non-business-related field. Pairing this degree with a minor such as marketing, finance, or one of many interdepartmental minors can help align your interests and prepare you for success.
  • Business Advisory Group that keeps our program up to date on the latest industry developments, hiring practices, required skills, and technology trends to help us best prepare students for success. Accomplished alumni and friends of the College who constitute the group are eager to connect students with job opportunities.
  • Active on-campus groups led by students, including the Management Association, American Marketing Association, Business Leadership Honorary Society, Society for International Business Affairs, Delta Mu Delta honor society, Student Government Association, Center for Entrepreneurship + Innovation, and more.
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes woven into your academic schedule that will cultivate excellent critical thinking, writing, and other communication skills, empathy, and a well-rounded understanding of the world and your place in it.
Career Outcomes
  • Within six months of graduation, 97% of Grove City College business program graduates are employed or pursuing further education in graduate programs. By taking advantage of all that Grove City has to offer, you too could launch into an exciting career or master’s program soon after graduating.
    • Our business graduates consistently build careers with renowned companies like ALCOA, Pillsbury, Prudential, Northwestern Mutual, and more. As an HRM graduate, you will be prepared to pursue a wide variety of positions, such as human resource generalist, compensation and benefits manager, labor relations specialist, training and development manager, and risk and insurance manager, among others.
    • Others obtain admittance into competitive graduate or professional programs at institutions such as Duke, Penn State, Ohio State, Columbia, and the University of Pittsburgh.
  • You will be prepared to demonstrate competitive technical knowledge on the Major Field Test (MFT).
  • No matter where you take your degree, you will have the broad foundation, strategic mindset, and interpersonal skills to help employees reach their potential and boost business performance and productivity in a large corporate setting or a small organization.
