B.S. in Psychology

Explore the biology behind psychology.

Grove City College offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on the natural sciences to prepare you for a career in research,  graduate study in healthcare such as medicine, or physician’s assistant, or a variety of other fields. As a psychology major, you will scientifically explore human behavior and mental processes from a Christian perspective while being exposed to the foundational disciplines in psychology — such as cognition, social and neural bases of behavior, and mental processes. You will also benefit from advanced research experience and hands-on experimental coursework. Your B.S. in Psychology will equip you to succeed in graduate school and go on to thrive professionally. Positions our graduates have obtained include physician, physician’s assistant, occupational therapist and academic psychologist.

Program Distinctives
  • Education grounded in scientific rigor and the conservative Christian worldview.
  • Accessible faculty mentors – Highly accomplished Christian faculty who complement each other with varying areas of expertise.
  • Internship opportunities – Our internship coordinator, Dr. Martin Bright, will help you take your skills to the professional world with organizations such as George Junior Republic, Family & Children Faith Coalition, United States Probation Office, Genesis Counseling Center, TWOgether Pittsburgh, and Newton Consulting. Internships can be done either for credit or not for credit. Both options help students discern their calling and provide experience that graduate schools and employers value. Our students perform well in internships. We are regularly contacted by organizations that want to recruit our students.
  • Research opportunities – Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) and other valuable experience conducting research and collaborating with faculty will equip you for graduate school and help you stand out to future employers.
  • Student-led organizations – Grow in servant leadership through groups like  Psi Chi.
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes – Deepen your critical thinking, writing, and other communication skills while cultivating empathy and a well-rounded worldview. Our Psychology curriculum integrates with the Humanities Core through courses such as Worldview and Psychological Science as well as History and Systems of Psychology.

      • Among our psychology majors who choose not to attend graduate school, many begin careers with private and governmental agencies to serve children and youth or work with people struggling with addiction and substance abuse, while others find entry-level positions in business.
      • Among our graduates with advanced degrees in psychology, many conduct research at major universities, teach future psychology majors at colleges around the country, provide mental health services in hospitals and clinics, direct human resources departments in industry, and serve the social services needs of citizens in both urban and rural areas. Other graduates pursue master’s and doctorate-level education in medicine, health care, psychiatry, and more.
