Apply

Program Highlights
  • 48 major credit hours of undergraduate coursework that will give you a broad and thorough foundation in psychology. For students majoring in psychology, this bachelor of arts option heavily incorporates liberal arts and social science coursework (providing a good foundation for graduate study in counseling and clinical psychology), while the bachelor of science option has a stronger focus on the natural sciences (excellent for graduate-level studies leading to careers in research, medicine, and other healthcare-related careers). For detailed course descriptions and a comprehensive list of required credits to earn this bachelor of arts degree, refer to the College Catalog.
    • Psychology core requirements include courses in Foundations of Psychological Science, Statistical Methods, Research Methods, Social Psychology, History and Systems of Psychology, Psychological Assessment, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Advanced Research Methods.
    • Experimental, clinical, and developmental clusters include specialized course options in Sensation and Perception, Cognitive Psychology, Advanced Statistics, Intro to Professional Counseling, Psychology of Personality, Abnormal Psychology, Child Development, Adult Development and Aging, and Marriage and Family: Assessment and Intervention.
    • Major-related requirements include General Biology or Life Science.
  • Options to double major or minor across departments in complementary disciplines like family studies, social work, pre-law, and foreign languages.
  • Personal access to highly accomplished faculty mentors with varying passions and areas of expertise.
  • Internship opportunities to develop your skills in a professional context with organizations such as Family & Children Faith Coalition, United States Probation Office, Genesis Counseling Center, TWOgether Pittsburgh, and Newton Consulting.
  • Opportunities to attend regional conferences like the Eastern Psychological Association meeting.
  • Student-led organizations in which you can participate and grow in servant leadership, including the Sociology, Social Work, and Psychology Association.
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes woven into your academic schedule that will cultivate greater empathy, critical thinking, writing and other communication skills, and a well-rounded understanding of the world and your place in it.
Career Outcomes
  • If you are like 96% of Grove City College graduates, you will be prepared to compete for a wide variety of full-time positions or pursue graduate-level education at some of the top schools nationwide.
    • Among our psychology majors who do not enter graduate school, many enter positions with private and governmental agencies to serve children and youth or work with drug and alcohol addicts, while others find entry-level management positions in business. Common positions include nonprofit executive director, relationship educator, editor, event planner, and director of youth leadership development.
    • Among our graduates with advanced degrees in psychology, most are providing mental health services at hospitals, clinics, or in private practice. Many others are school psychologists or guidance counselors, some conduct research at universities, hospitals, and other settings, and others practice law or work in business.
  • Wherever you feel called to serve, you will have a broad foundation, advanced research and practical experience, and a honed sense of purpose to effectively support individuals, nonprofits, and businesses spanning a variety of fields.
