Incoming Freshmen, Dual-Enrolled, or Transfer students are strongly encouraged to complete the following survey about their language background. The information gathered helps the College determine whether students are likely to need language coursework, and, if so, at what level. Please note that formal coursework will be determined by the Registrar’s Office as high school transcripts are processed. Even if you anticipate receiving a high school waiver, you should complete the form below.
Freshman/Transfer Language Survey
Starting in Fall 2026, students in B.A. programs in Calderwood complete the intermediate level of a language (e.g. through FREN 202, SPAN 202). Students in B.S. programs in Calderwood and Winklevoss complete the elementary level of language (e.g. through FREN 102, SPAN 102). Language waivers will solely be available based on proven proficiency. See the link below for details.
Language Requirement
Students who have had prior exposure to a language but have not taken an AP exam or received college credit in the language must take the Foreign Language Placement Exam before registering for their first modern languages course at Grove City College.
Students are expected to adhere to Grove City College’s Academic Integrity Policy. All work should be the student’s own, and the use of notes, dictionaries, translation tools, textbooks, and all other forms of assistance during the placement exam are prohibited.
