To minor in French, you must complete 18 credit hours of French courses beyond French 101 and 102 (excluding French 362). In addition to the solid communicative skills, you will gain a strong understanding of French and Francophone cultures.

The Spanish minor is designed to solidify communication skills while introducing you to the culture of the Hispanic world.
This minor consists of 18 hours of Spanish courses beyond Spanish 101 and 102 (excluding Spanish 362). You will choose from courses focused on building language skills (conversation and composition) and from courses designed to introduce you to the literature and culture of Latin America, Spain, and Hispanic communities in the US.
To earn a minor in international studies, you must complete 18-21 credit hours of course requirements selected from fields such as international history, politics, economics, and global society, religion, and culture. You must demonstrate modern language competency by completing a language course at the 202 level or higher, or demonstrate evidence of equivalent proficiency in a widely spoken modern language other than English. You’ll also complete an approved international academic experience in study abroad at the college level for a semester or a year — or three credits of an international internship experience.
The concentration in professional Spanish enables you to make intentional connections between Spanish language and culture and your future career. The concentration consists of nine hours of Spanish beyond the 200 level and includes two classes that explore fields such as business, translation, law, and health. It also requires you to take one course in either oral or written communication.

The language proficiency certification program allows you to demonstrate language skills to employers and graduate schools. Requiring a 300-level conversation course and one other 300-level course of your choice, and an oral proficiency interview, the certification is recommended to students who have few elective opportunities within their major and/or acquired language skills in high school.
