​Grove City College is a private, Christian four-year undergraduate institution. The College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and is also an institutional member of the American Council on Education, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities, among many other associations.
 
Since its founding in 1876, Grove City College, committed to Christian principles, has sought to provide liberal, scientific, and pre-professional education of the highest caliber at the lowest possible cost. In keeping with its Mission, therefore, the College takes special care in selecting faculty who are experts in their chosen fields of learning, thoroughly loyal to the purposes of the College, and professing Christians.

​In order to preserve and protect its independence, Grove City College refused federal student beginning in the mid-1980s.
