spacer ENTREPRENEURSHIP
spacer

Grove City College is recognized as a leading faith-based undergraduate educator in entrepreneurial enterprising among private Christian colleges in the United States today. We prepare men and women to lead, innovate, and think entrepreneurially whether in business or non-profit – to be role models and job creators, rather than just job seekers. We educate and train tomorrow’s Christian leaders of influence and social transformation. Our students receive a thorough, well-rounded and grounded education through 1) our rigorous academic course work taught by doctorally qualified faculty and practicing entrepreneurs; 2) the active engagement of local and regional entrepreneurial ventures, small businesses, and family businesses; 3) student opportunities for one-on-one and small group discussions with active practitioners; 4) and experiential learning, entrepreneurship conferences, and student-entrepreneurship organizations.

Our desire is to assist our students in:
1. integrating their faith into their professional and personal lives;
2. understanding how a business career is a Christian calling;
3. experiencing real business by functioning in a safe environment in which to make those early mistakes;
4. developing their teamwork skills and ability to work within cross-disciplinary teams;
5. enhancing their Christian business ethics framework in preparation for engaging the real world;
6. acquiring the best liberal arts and business education necessary to become a wise participating member of society;
7. acquiring the essential business skills, tools, and network opportunities essential to their future careers;
8. model the five steps of the “Good to Great” process.

Our graduates develop eight core entrepreneurial competencies.
1. Understanding the entrepreneurial process of opportunity discovery, concept development, resource allocation, risk assessment, and implementation.
2. Leading ethically, strong self-management, integration of personal values and professional action.
3. Understanding the place of the entrepreneur in the world of commerce and society.
4. Identifying, assessing, accepting, and managing risk.
5. Financial management finding capital and managing profitability.
6. Enterprise management from strategy to people, to information.
7. Market management developing the value proposition, product creation and marketing mix implementation.
8. Visioning – able to communicate their vision to others and build commitment.

CURRICULA

Entrepreneurship
Do you want to maximize your opportunities upon graduation? Do you think a bit differently, desire more personal responsibility, or struggle with how you can make a difference for God, your family, your country? Our graduates engage and seek to transform society through commercial and social enterprise as solo entrepreneurs, members of business start-up teams, leaders of non-profit social entrepreneurial efforts, and as “intrapreneurs” within existing companies. The combination of liberal arts, business education and entrepreneurial thought and practice in this program
provide a complete set of information and skills to address life’s challenges while developing your eyes and mind as an
entrepreneur.

Internship Opportunities
All entrepreneurship majors are required to complete an internship during their course of study. Internship experiences
run from 2-6 credits and are completed between the sophomore and senior year. The internship experience is designed to confirm, direct and educate our students — confirm their choice of entrepreneurship as a major, help them find direction for their career choice upon graduation, and bring a practical educational element to their learning experience while at Grove City College.

Mentoring
Junior or senior year students have the opportunity to be matched with a entrepreneur mentor for a semester. This elective seminar opportunity enables the entrepreneur student to begin their professional network and receive one-on-one coaching from a practitioner in the area of the student’s choice.

Scholarships
Our commitment to best value includes an strong scholarship program specifically for majors. There are two scholarships
specifically for incoming freshmen and three for continuing students. See our website for information.
