    Distinctive Scholarships

    The following scholarships require students to meet certain qualifications. Please read each description carefully to see if you can meet the requirements before applying.

    To apply, please forward a copy of the documentation to the Financial Aid Office by emailing it to FinancialAid@gcc.edu. If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 724-458-3300 or by email.

    Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. Scholarship

    This scholarship shall provide an award at an amount of $10,000 per eligible student with the following conditions. The student is in good standing with the College as determined by Board Policy, the student is a family member of an employee or former employee of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc., and the student self-identifies and the relationship is verified by a representative of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. This scholarship may be renewable.

    Presbyterian Church of the Covenant Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students from the Church of the Covenant of Erie, Pa. Students need to notify the Financial Aid Office that they attend this church by submitting a letter from the pastor of the church confirming attendance.

    Presbyterian Scholarship Fund

    This scholarship is awarded to students that demonstrate financial need as determined by the results of their CSS Profile who are a member of a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation in one of the following presbyteries: Beaver-Butler, Kiskiminetas, Lake Erie, Pittsburgh, Redstone Shenango, Upper Ohio Valley, and Washington. Applications for this scholarship are initiated through the student’s church.

    Russo & Spessotti Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student or students in good standing with the College, as determined by Board Policy. The student must submit a paper on an opinion authored by Judge Robert Bork or U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, or Amy Coney Barrett, or a paper applying one of that Judge’s or those Justices’ approach to a current issue. A first preference will be given to students majoring or minoring in Communication Arts, Education, Political Science, Pre-Law, Writing, or future majors or minors preparing “public influencers,” which is defined by the donors as those who will have influence on large audiences. The paper must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by March 1 to be considered for the scholarship for the ensuing academic year.

    Schwab Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students that are a member in good standing of his or her local church who memorized the original Westminster Shorter Catechism of 1648 and recited (perfectly or near perfectly) said Catechism, as verified by a signed letter from his or her ordained pastor. The applicant must submit the signed letter by April 15 to be considered for this scholarship in the ensuing academic year. If more than one student applies for the scholarship in any particular year, then the scholarship may be divided between the applicants or awarded to the student with the greatest demonstrated financial need.

    Trail Life USA Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students in good standing with the College, as determined by Board Policy, that have been involved with Trail Life or American Heritage Girls and have earned the Freedom Award or the Stars & Stripes Award. Students must submit a copy of the certificate of earning their award to the Financial Aid Office by April 1 to be considered for this scholarship in the ensuing academic year. If more than one student applies for the scholarship in any particular year, then the scholarship may be divided between the applicants, as funds are available.

    Worldview Academy Merit Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students in good standing with the College, as determined by Board Policy, who have participated in any Worldview Academy Leadership Camp. The student must self-identify by emailing the Financial Aid Office the date and location of the Worldview Academy Leadership Camp that they attended. This scholarship has a value of $1,000 and is awarded as funds are available.
