Program Distinctives
  • Rigorous education from a Christ-centered perspective.
  • Personal access to highly accomplished Christian faculty mentors, all of whom have experience teaching in PreK-12 settings, as well as expert faculty in music, French, or Spanish.
  • Real-world field experiences in a wide range of classroom environments starting your freshman year, culminating in a student teaching experience during one semester of your senior year. Through partnerships with local elementary, middle, and high schools, you will gain hands-on experience and develop classroom management skills.
  • Education Career Services (ECS) – Offers exceptional career development and networking opportunities for you as both a student and alumnus of Grove City College. The ECS fosters relationships with private, public, charter, and international schools and other education employers.
  • Unique advisement model – Two faculty members advise your class cohort throughout your four years in the program and offer regular guidance during your first critical year working in the field. This results in faculty knowing students as individuals, developing them as professionals, and cultivating them into a strong peer support group which continues after graduation.
  • Hamilton Curriculum Library – Provides you with access to a wealth of education materials and expert guidance. Curated by a certified teacher in our program, this hub for education majors serves as an ideal space to collaborate with fellow students and work on lesson planning.
  • Active on-campus student groups including the Secondary Education Society, Council for Exceptional Children, award-winning chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi education honorary, National Association for Music Education (NAfME) chapter, French Club, Spanish Club, and Students for Ethnic Awareness and Diversity (S.E.A.D.).
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes woven into your academic schedule that will strengthen your critical thinking and communication skills while cultivating empathy and a well-rounded understanding of the world and your place in it.
Career Opportunities & Outcomes
  • Career paths: Many education majors become certified and licensed teachers around the country at public schools and private schools, while others take unique teaching positions in mission work and other fields.
    • Some of our students go on to pursue graduate degrees in education and related fields.
  • If you are like 96% of Grove City College graduates, you will be prepared to compete for full-time jobs in elementary education, middle school, or high school — or for seats in top graduate programs across the country.
  • Prepare to pass the Praxis exam on your first try, like nearly all our graduates.
  • Whatever grade or school district you are called to, you will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and inspire students through music, French, or Spanish.

Student & Alumni Stories
“The professors at Grove City College are wonderful! They hold students to a high standard because they truly want to see students succeed. I cannot imagine where I would be as a musician, a teacher, or as a believer without their wisdom. The kind and compassionate professors made Grove City a place I love.” — Annie Polka ’16, B.M. in Music Education
