By earning a Bachelor of Arts in Christian & Classical Education from Grove City College, you pursue a focused career in a one-of-a-kind program. With curriculum designed to be rigorous and theologically sound, you will graduate prepared to teach biblically integrated subjects at all levels, either domestically or abroad. There is even an opportunity to double major in areas like English, Philosophy, Mathematics and other disciplines to further you in this growing field. If you’re looking to enrich the minds of students, this degree will provide the hands-on experience and knowledge base for lasting impact.

Program Distinctives
  • Rigorous education from a Christ-centered perspective. 
  • Personal access to highly accomplished Christian faculty mentors, all of whom have experience teaching in PreK-12 settings. 
  • One-of-a-kind curriculum design – Take courses you won’t find at any other institution that focus on the art of classical teaching, biblical integration in curriculum, Christian doctrine, the theology of missions, humanities and logic, and more. 
    • Elementary level path: Students pursuing a teaching career at this level must take courses covering primary reading instruction, teaching elementary science and health, teaching elementary mathematics, etc. 
    • Middle to High School level path: Students pursuing a career teaching this level must choose a minor in a specialty subject such as Biology, Chemistry, English, Philosophy, etc. 
  • Real-world apprenticeship in classical education environments, culminating in a teaching experience in your senior year. 
  • Unique advisement model – Two faculty members advise your class cohort throughout your four years in the program and offer regular guidance during your first critical year working in the field. This results in faculty knowing students as individuals, developing them as professionals, and guiding them into a strong peer support group which continues after graduation. 
  • Education Career Services (ECS) – Offers exceptional career development and networking opportunities for you as both a student and alumnus of Grove City College. The ECS fosters relationships with private, public, charter, and international schools, as well as other education employers. 
  • Hamilton Curriculum Library – Provides you access to a wealth of education materials and expert guidance. Curated by a certified teacher in our program, this hub for education majors serves as an ideal space to collaborate with fellow students and work on lesson planning. 
  • Active on-campus student groups including the Fellowship of Christian Educators, Council for Exceptional Children and our award-winning chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi education honorary. 
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes woven into your academic schedule to will strengthen your critical thinking skills while cultivating empathy and a well-rounded understanding of the world. 
Career Opportunities & Outcomes
  • Career paths: Many students will graduate and start teaching in a classical Christian institution — from kindergarten to high school levels — while others take teaching positions in mission work and international schools. 
    • Some of our students go on to pursue graduate degrees in education and related fields.

Program Specifics
  • 80-83 major credit hours of undergraduate coursework to earn your bachelor’s degree in classical Christian education — spanning core subjects in math, history, literature, and more, as well as courses covering pedagogy, biblical integration into curriculum, and instruction. For detailed course descriptions, refer to the College Catalog.
  • Minor – The Christian & Classical Education minor is composed of 21 credits and provides the basic philosophy and introductory skills needed to teach in Christian and Classical Schools. Required courses include Biblical Integration in Curriculum, The Art of Classical Teaching Methods, and Introduction to the Teaching Profession. This minor does NOT lead to any certifications or endorsements.
  • Post-Baccalaureate program – If you are pursuing an undergraduate degree in another discipline, you can be equipped with the courses and experiences you need to become an influential teacher and shaper of young minds. The Christian & Classical Education program requires 31 credits of coursework involving classical teaching methods, educational psychology, etc., and choose specialty electives in Christian school, classical school, or international school education.
