Description: Grove City College is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated accounting professional to join our team in a role that is essential to the processing of employee compensation and related financial reporting. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with GAAP and IRS regulations while supporting internal financial management processes. Primary responsibilities include processing payroll for approximately 1,800 employees annually, calculating and recording various forms of compensation such as hourly wages, salaries, and supplemental pay, and preparing and reconciling data files for federal, state, and local tax withholdings. The role also involves managing compliance with wage regulations, coordinating employee and employer contributions to the College’s 403(b) retirement plan and benefits programs, assisting with employee onboarding and employment eligibility verification, and supporting year-end reporting, including W-2 preparation.
In addition to payroll administration, this position contributes to monthly financial reconciliation and reporting, including assisting with compensation budget preparation, analyzing variances, and completing required tax filings. The individual will also support fixed asset accounting by maintaining plant improvement fund records, tracking capital projects, recording asset acquisitions and disposals, calculating depreciation, and ensuring accurate reporting of capital expenditures. Responsibilities extend to supervising student organization financial activities, providing guidance to student leaders, and preparing regular financial reports.
This role also administers the corporate credit card program, assisting employees with account management and resolving transaction issues. The position supports the annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules, analyzing contractual obligations, and providing documentation to external auditors. Additional duties include preparing journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, assisting with purchase orders, filing required IRS forms, and maintaining organized document records.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, along with at least five years of accounting experience and preferably one year of payroll experience. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of payroll principles, knowledge of federal and state regulations, proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), and exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality, work both independently and collaboratively, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is essential. A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission and vision of Grove City College is essential.
