Student Loans

While Grove City College does not accept or certify any loans under the Federal Direct Student Loan Program (Student or Parent Programs), we do offer alternate private student loan availability through the College. Read our Statement on Federal Funding.

Grove City College Student Loan

For students who decide to use student loans to pay for their education, we are pleased to offer a Grove City College Student Loan through PNC Bank, National Association (PNC Bank). There are no application or origination fees on this loan.

This private loan is available to Grove City College students who are U.S. citizens (or who have permanent resident immigration status) and are full-time, degree-seeking students making academic progress. At the time of application, a student must have a Cumulative Quality Point Average (CQPA) of 2.0 or higher.

Borrowers must meet credit guidelines. A credit-worthy co-signer may be required.

Loan Limits

Loan amounts cannot exceed the cost of education less other financial aid for any academic year and are capped at:

  • $12,000 per year for freshman year
  • $17,000 per year for sophomore, junior and senior year
  • $63,000 lifetime cap
Apply

To apply, complete the online application. Borrowers are required to attend two College-sponsored seminars on debt management. The first seminar must be attended after receiving the first loan and prior to receiving any future loans. The second seminar is required for all second year students who have already borrowed in order to borrow in the future.

The loan will be processed on the Campus Door Origination System. BOTH the student borrower and any cosigners will be prompted to set up an account during the loan application process by establishing an ID number and password for each individual.

Loans are granted for an academic year with half disbursed for the fall semester and half disbursed for the spring, unless otherwise specified by the borrower. Please allow at least three weeks for processing.

If you are a student applicant and/or co-signer and would like to check the status of your application, log in and look for the "Check Loan Status" button.

Financial Literacy Education

We believe an informed decision is a best decision when making determinations about your educational financing options, as well as your financial welfare in general. We encourage you to explore PNC Bank's Financial Literacy Education resource for more information. This helpful site provides the tools to assist you in understanding financial health, identifying theft, and repaying loans, for example.

Other Loan Options

Most large banks or loan companies offer private, alternative student loans to qualified borrowers that can be used to fund a college education. Before applying, you'll want to verify that the loan is a private issuance and not federal one. Carefully review terms and conditions.

You will want to read the Grove City College Outside Scholarship and Loan Policy to understand the requirements and guidelines on how loans that are sent directly to the student are administered by the College.

Securing loans from any source outside of the College's loan program is a student’s responsibility. Upon request, the College will certify, except for federal financial aid, enrollment and provide other data with an understanding that it is fulfilling a service to its students. The provision of that service does not indicate that the College is a recipient of the loan received by the student or that it is in any way administering any portion of the loan program, or that it is responsible for decisions made by the lenders. Before exploring your loan options, please review the Grove City College Financial Aid Code of Conduct.
