By pursuing this degree, you will build a strong foundation in political ideas, sharpen your communication and analytical skills, pursue professional development opportunities, and gain biblically informed perspectives.

    • Experiential learning – Faculty often invite guest speakers working in political science to speak and organize trips to Gettysburg and Washington D.C. for students to network and learn. 
    • Active on-campus groups – Apply and advance your education by joining student-led groups like the Student Government Association, Pi Sigma Alpha (national political science honor society), Debate Team, American Enterprise Institution (AEI) Executive Council, International Justice Mission, College Republicans, Law Society, Life Advocates, and more. These groups frequently organize visits from guest speakers and attend conferences. 
    • Student publication opportunities – Get involved with the Journal of Law & Public Policy and The Collegian (newspaper).
    • Minors – Specialize in National Security Studies, Political Science, or Pre-Law.
    • The Institute for Faith & Freedom – Collaborate as a marketing or research fellow with the College’s think tank.
    • Research opportunities – Work alongside experienced, published faculty in areas including American politics, international relations and security, U.S. foreign policy, and religion and political behavior.
    • Internship opportunities – Secure internships in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and around the world that will give you a head start in developing your professional network. Students have even interned in high levels of government, under leaders such as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Neil M. Gorsuch. 
    • Vocation-enriching humanities core classes – Deepen your critical thinking, writing, and other communication skills while cultivating a well-rounded worldview.
      Career Opportunities & Outcomes
      • Career paths: political journalist, writer, commentator, lobbyist, political strategist, communications director, research director, legislative assistant, humanities teacher, media relations specialist, state representative, state senator, and more.
      • Prominent career opportunities – Build your career at an executive branch agency like the FBI or CIA, on Capitol Hill, in a state capital, in a law office, or with a well-known political organization like the Manhattan Institute and the American Enterprise Institute, among others.
      • Successful placement – Like 95% of our graduates, within six months of graduation you’ll be ready to land a competitive full-time position or enter into graduate programs at schools including Georgetown, University of Virginia, and Penn State University.
      • Excellent law school preparation – You’ll be ready to earn a high score on the LSAT, which is essential for getting into a top law school. Grove City students’ average LSAT score ranks in the 80th percentile of all U.S. colleges and universities. Our students have been admitted to many of the highest-ranking law schools, including those in the top 25 such as Columbia, NYU, Harvard, and UVA.
