​Wishing named Vice President for Student Recruitment

Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty ’80 has named Lee S. Wishing III ’83 to a newly-created post of Vice President for Student Recruitment, effective July 1, 2017. 

Wishing currently serves as the Administrative Director for The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College as well as the Assistant to the President for Student Recruiting and Strategic Initiatives.

Approved by the Board of Trustees, this new leadership team position will provide strategic direction to the College’s student recruitment program to ensure that enrollment goals are achieved in a manner consistent with the vision, mission and values outlined in the College’s new strategic plan. 

Wishing will be responsible for achieving optimal enrollment with an emphasis on increasing quality, retention and persistence, and student diversity through innovative, analytically rigorous and data-driven planning that continuously assesses the direction and results of admissions efforts.

“It is essential for the College to sustain a highly-competitive, long term recruitment strategy in order to attract top students. Lee has become an integral part of our enrollment plan during the last year. His efforts generated an increase in new student applications and the largest incoming freshman class in a decade.” McNulty said. “Coupled with his ideas, enthusiasm and understanding of the College, we are confident that Lee has the experience necessary to exceed expectations.” 

Wishing graduated from Grove City College in 1983 with a degree in business administration and holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Geneva College. He worked in the financial services industry until 1994, when he returned to his alma mater as Director of College Relations, where he was instrumental in launching The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College, a conservative think tank strengthening the faith and freedom foundation of American citizenship, in 2004.

A resident of Grove City, Pa., Wishing serves on the boards of the Shenango Valley Urban League and the Grove City Christian Academy. Wishing is a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Grove City, where he serves as an elder. He married his College sweetheart Dede (Deahl ’86) in 1987 and they have four children — Lee IV ’17, Sarah ’18, Mary ’20 and John.
