New professors join Grove City College faculty

Grove City College is welcoming new faculty members for the 2025-26 academic year. The new hires, including four alumni, will augment the College’s exceptional academic cohort in a variety of departments in the humanities, STEM, business, and education.

The new professors are:

• Dr. Andrew C. Baker ’07, associate professor of History. Baker will teach U.S. history and history methods. His scholarly work focuses on American cities, suburbs, and the countryside. He completed his doctorate in History at Rice University in 2014 and was a faculty member at East Texas A&M University before coming to Grove City College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in History.
• Dr. David B. Beevers ’08, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering. Beevers will teach kinematics and dynamics of machines, machine design, and senior design. His specialties also include thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and MATLAB programming. He holds a doctorate from Penn State University and comes to the College from Penn State Behrend, where he taught for 10 years.
• Dr. Jonathan D. Dabbs ’18, assistant professor of Chemistry. Dabbs will teach organic chemistry. After earning a degree in Biochemistry from the College, he obtained his doctorate in chemistry from The University of Virginia. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital developing and conducting preclinical tests on novel radiotracers designed to detect early-stage neuroinflammation.
• Dr. Jeffrey M. Hubbard, assistant professor of Biblical and Theological Studies. Hubbard specializes in the field of New Testament studies, having just completed his doctorate in Religion at Baylor University. His research analyzes the literature of the earliest Christians in light of Greco-Roman book culture and ancient education. Hubbard earned his Master of Arts in Religion at Yale Divinity School and his BA in Biblical and Theological Studies at Biola University.
• Dr. Tammi Martin, assistant professor of Education. Martin brings with her 32 years of service in public education in the Grove City Area School District, where she served in a variety of roles, including emotional support teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, and principal. She earned her doctorate in Education Administration and Leadership from Pennsylvania Western University, with a focus on school finance and fiscal responsibility.
• Christopher D. Pacione, associate professor of Design. Prof. Pacione will teach courses in design and innovation. He has over 35 years of experience as a designer, educator, and entrepreneur. Pacione holds a BFA in Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in Painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Theological Studies at Westminster Theological Seminary
• Margaret P. Smith, assistant professor of Music. Smith will teach Civilization and the Arts, music history, and serve as assistant director of the marching band. Previously, she was director of bands at Lock Haven University and a musician on active duty in the U.S. Navy. She is completing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University and earned her BS in Music Education, Master of Arts in Musicology, and Master of Music in Conducting from Penn State.
• Dr. Tegan L. Truitt ’21, assistant professor of Finance and Economics. Truitt will teach corporate finance, investments, and portfolio management. His research focuses on legal origins and political consequences of financial markets and institutions. He completed his doctorate in Economics at George Mason University. At Grove City College, he double majored in economics and philosophy.

Also officially joining the faculty this fall is Dr. Patricia A. Annear, director of the Johnson School of Nursing and professor of Nursing. Annear, who started in October 2024, is a registered nurse, certified nurse educator, and a peer evaluator for the ACEN.

She previously was on the faculty at Waynesburg University and Butler County Community College, where she served as the Dean of the Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health from 2016-2024 and facilitated the Grove City College and Butler County Community College nursing articulation partnership. She holds undergraduate degrees from Alvernia College and Kutztown University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Villanova University, and a Doctorate in Education from Capella University.
