Professional Experience 
I have worked at Grove City College since 1995 when I was hired as Assistant Director of Financial Services for the College and then promoted to director. I served in these two positions for a total of 12 years, overseeing all financial accounting, controller, and treasury functions of the College. I have been teaching since 2006 and joined the faculty full-time in the Department of Accounting & Finance in 2007. In 2013, I joined the Calderwood School’s dean’s team as assistant dean, a role that provides me the opportunity to work closely with faculty in a variety of ways. I was promoted to full professor in 2017.

Prior to Grove City College, I worked as a consultant and later in financial accounting and cost accounting for a manufacturing company. Although I teach a variety of accounting classes, cost accounting is my area of specialization. I love to dive in and understand how things are made, the details of how a service is provided, and how cost accounting information can help an organization make better decisions.

What is the most important piece of advice you give students to help them succeed?
As Christians, Christ calls us to serve others. Many of us are called to serve Him in a variety of organizations that provide incredibly important and meaningful goods and services to others. Embrace this calling! Accounting is a discipline that provides understanding, value, and insight to all types of organizations, and each one needs people who can tell the organization’s story in “the language of business.” 

Accountants face a variety of challenging issues, so I stress the need to prepare well for the profession and bring a vibrant and hopeful faith to the vital work to be done in service of others. An accounting major at Grove City College is a great place to start your education down a path where you can take a deep look at who you are called to be in Christ.

Is there any personal experience you would like to share?
I love to travel in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve been to Scotland, Ireland, England, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Canada, Japan, and Singapore. I especially enjoy spending time in Scotland where my family has roots (see the photo of my family’s “castle”) and in Prague, Czech Republic, where I enjoy researching Moravian history. As a history buff, I’m enjoying a hobby of restoring an early 1800s Western Pennsylvania stone farmhouse.
