​Grove City College moves up in U.S. News rankings

Grove City College is again ranked as a top tier National Liberal Arts School by U.S. News and World Report, reflecting the College’s high graduation rate, small class sizes, accomplished faculty and high achieving students.

“The real value of the U.S. News & World Report ranking is in the information about Grove City College that greatly concerns parents and students – data on academic performance, cost, debt, graduation rates and student success,” College President Paul J. McNulty ’80 said. “In our effort to build a strong and faithful future for students at Grove City College, these measurements demonstrate once again our place among the nation’s finest institutions of higher learning.” 

The rankings, released Tuesday, were compiled by U.S. News after assessing hundreds of American colleges, universities and service academies. To establish each year’s rankings, U.S. News looks at a number of differently-weighted factors, including graduation and retention rates, faculty quality, student selectivity, financial resources, assessments by other colleges and high school guidance counselors and alumni giving. Grove City College posted impressive numbers in several categories, including a 92 percent freshman retention rate and an 85 percent graduation rate.

The College saw its position on the respected news magazine’s 2017 Best Colleges rankings rise from previous years. Grove City College is number 122 on the list of National Liberal Arts Colleges, up from 134 last year. Schools on the list award at least half their degrees in the arts and sciences and have a student body that’s drawn from a larger geographic area than just the region or surrounding states. Grove City College students come from more than 40 states and from countries around the globe.

The College’s standout engineering program was ranked by U.S. News as one of the Top Programs at Schools Whose Highest Degree is a Bachelor’s or Master’s.” Grove City College has a near 100 percent placement rate in jobs or graduate school for graduates of its ABET-accredited Mechanical and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments. 

U.S. News also identified Grove City College as an “A-plus School for B students,” which indicates the College has a proven track record of helping students reach their fullest academic potential.

The U.S. News ranking comes on the heels of the College being selected last month as one of Princeton Review’s “381 Best Colleges.” For more on how Grove City College ranks, visit www.gcc.edu/howwerank.
