Nine new professors join GCC faculty ranks

Nine new professors are joining the faculty of Grove City College this fall to teach in STEM, humanities, and business programs.

The cohort of Christian scholars includes five alumni, including Dr. Joshua C. Snyder ’04, the new dean of the Hopeman School of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Snyder, who will also serve as a professor of Biology, earned a degree in Biochemistry at the College and completed his Ph.D. research in molecular pharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh. He comes to his alma mater from Duke University, where he was an associate professor in the Department of Surgery with secondary appointments in cell biology and pharmacology and cancer biology. His research has addressed major questions in tissue repair and tumor initiation, with a recent focus on tracing a cancer cell’s progression to metastasis.

Other alumni joining the faculty are:

  • Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Rachel Clark ’20. Clark earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from Grove City College and Ph.D. from Duquesne University. She previously taught at Slippery Rock University.
  • Assistant Professor of Mathematics Dr. Jared Kettinger ’21. Kettinger earned a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Economics from Grove City College and his master’s and Ph.D. in mathematics from Clemson University.
  • Assistant Professor of Education Dr. Michael Pelloni ’04. Pelloni earned a B.S. in Education from Grove City College, master’s and Ph.D. in education in from Regent University, and worked in public education.
  • Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. Allen Scheie ’14. Scheie, who earned a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Philosophy from Grove City College and a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University, was a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Other new full-time faculty include:

  • Assistant Professor of Music Sarah Gilbert, who holds a master’s in choral conducting and has a decade of teaching experience in public schools.
  • Assistant Professor of History Dr. Abigail Gomulkiewicz, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and comes to the College from the University of St. Francis.
  • Assistant Professor of Communication Dr. Rudy Sunrin Kim, who earned a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and M.A. from Seoul National University in South Korea.
  • Associate Professor of Management Dr. Jennifer Roy, with a Ph.D. and an MBA, previously served as a professor and department chair at Waynesburg University.
