Grove City College’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the national professional organization and honorary society for educators, has won the Achieving Chapter Excellence Award.
The chapter, made up of Education majors, earned the national organization’s kudos for its work promoting literacy locally.
“The award highlights the achievements of students in the KDP chapter who go above and beyond to serve the field of education,” said chapter advisor Dr. Jolene K. Munson, associate professor of Education and director of the Early Education Center.
The award is given every other year to chapters that lead in service, leadership, and community efforts in education. Chapter members were recognized for their work creating and leading a fun literacy event for children in after-school programs at the Grove City YMCA, as well as its Egg My Yard fundraiser.
Working with the national honorary “inspires and equips teachers to thrive,” Munson noted. “Our chapter does this by partnering with local educators to support them in their classroom, creating family nights and events for local families, and organizing professional development opportunities for the students in the Education Department.”
The College’s chapter has won the award every year it was eligible since the award was created in 2003.
