Concert features Symphony and Chamber orchestras

The Grove City College Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra will perform their final show of the spring season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 26 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will be livestreamed at www.gcc.edu/livemusic.

The Chamber Orchestra will perform a variety of works celebrating the rich history of the United States and Grove City College in recognition of the country’s 250th anniversary and the College’s 150th in 2026. Selections include “American Heroes,” “Sound the Amen,” and “Strike Up the Band” by Gershwin. The Symphony Orchestra will perform selections from “West Side Story” arranged by Jack Mason, “American Salute,” and conclude with the finale from Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 “Reformation.”

The evening will also include a recognition of seniors as well as a presentation of the Clifford and Joanne Cox Award for Musical Excellence.

“This year has been an amazing year of musical experiences with concerts, concerto/aria competition, and the 150th celebration last week. I am so proud of the students for their focus and dedication to using their musical gifts to serve our campus and regional community,” Dr. Jeffrey Tedford ’00, chair of the Department of Music and director of Orchestral Activities.
