Alums can play a key role at GCC’s Career Fair

Grove City College’s Career Services Office is encouraging alumni recruiters to return to campus for the 18th annual Career Fair, one of the largest independent collegiate recruiting and networking events in the region. 

“Grove City students are intelligent, motivated and ethical young adults and that message needs to be delivered to hiring managers and human resource professionals. Our alumni can play a critical role in helping to spread that message,” Mandy Sposato, associate director of Career Services, said.

The Career Fair will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 in the IM Room of the Physical Learning Center. Last year’s fair drew 165 businesses, government agencies, ministries and graduate schools to campus. More than 1,100 students from all years and majors came through the fair to learn about jobs, internships and post-graduate education.

Past recruiters have had great success identifying high caliber students for their full-time positions, internship opportunities and graduate programs at the fair. Of the many recruiters participating in last year’s event, approximately 150 of them were Grove City College alumni. The Career Services Office is looking to attract more alumni recruiters to make this year’s fair an even bigger success.

“The Career Services Office would love to continue building our partnership with alumni from all fields and industries in recruiting students for their organizations at this special event,” Sposato said. “If you are made aware of entry level and/or internship opportunities in your own workplace for which our students would be well-suited, we would encourage you to serve as an alumni recruiter for your company at our fall Career Fair or contact us directly about these opportunities.” 

As well as their outreach for the Career Fair, the College’s signature recruiting and networking event, the Career Services Office works with alumni from all fields and industries throughout the school year to secure current students internships, job interviews and employment. Their efforts pay off. Within six months of graduation, 97 percent of the Class of 2015 was either working or in graduate school.
