Academics, Christian mission, community draw GCC freshmen

What makes Grove City College so special? According to incoming freshmen, it is the academics, Christian mission, community, and a combination of other hallmarks the institution has emphasized for 150 years.

The College’s Admissions Office asked members of the class of 2030 to identify attributes that were “important” or “very important” in their decision to attend. They identified the following five distinctives that influenced their choice:

  • 97% cited the nationally ranked academic programs in liberal arts, STEM, business, and nursing.
  • 95% of students said it was Grove City College’s commitment to its Christian mission, including faith integration across disciplines and a robust chapel program.
  • 90% said a huge draw was the College’s Christian community, which provides a dynamic, supportive living experience for all four years on campus.
  • 80% were convinced by the exceptional career outcomes, which provide graduates with above average salaries throughout their working lives.
  • 78% of students appreciated the College’s tradition of upholding conservative values.

Lee Wishing ’83, vice president for Student Recruitment, expressed enthusiasm for this incoming class and their alignment with the College’s values.

“I think they are attracted to Grove City’s historic promises,” he said. “We promise to be academically rigorous and excellent. We promise to be Christ-centered. We promise to cultivate virtuous and vibrant community, prepare students holistically for careers, and advocate for the values that our country was founded upon.”
