What are the main focuses of your research, if applicable?
My research focuses on movement of animals across the environment using a variety of genetic tools. My research on undergraduate professional development and how formal classes can increase student efficacy and career confidence.

What specific courses or specialties do you teach, and/or what has drawn you to those specialties?

  • Fisheries and Aquatic Biology
  • Basis of Animal Behavior
  • Wildlife and Conservation Biology
  • Ecology

I am currently developing courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Limnology, and Ichthyology.

These courses are all related to my love for natural resources!

In your opinion, what is the most important piece of advice you give your students to help them succeed? How do you weave this advice into your classroom?

I remind my students to never give up, don’t ever give up. There are always tough days in classroom or life may throw some bumps in the road. Keep going; keep working hard; success will be right around the corner.
