In this Advent season, our thoughts turn to God’s gracious provision of his Son, a gift that brings hope and truth to a fallen world. This gift also continues to inspire the great mission of Grove City College. As Chairman of the Board, I am keenly aware of God’s kindness to the College. His unfailing goodness has included the abundant provision of talented and dedicated scholars, staff, and administrators who continue to serve our students with excellence. Here are some recent examples of this kindness and service:

• Interest in attending GCC has grown significantly in the past few years with applications reaching a near 20-year high. The sizes of our last two freshman classes have aligned with our strategic goals, and this year’s Early Decision applications point to a third consecutive year of success.

• Our financial footing is sound despite fiscal challenges stemming from the pandemic and high inflation. The College’s endowment, which has nearly doubled over the past 10 years, has essentially held its value in these difficult times. The generosity of alumni and friends and our commitment to the value of stewardship make GCC truly distinctive in the world of higher education.

• Giving to the College remains strong. Last year’s donations were our second highest in school history. And in the recent Wolverine Challenge, we set a record for the number of donors on the way to raising nearly $2 million. If you haven’t already supported the College financially this year, I encourage you to join me in making a gift by December 31.

• Alumni engagement has never been more energetic and encouraging. Furthering our strategic goal of better leveraging the alumni network to enhance opportunities for students, the College has launched the “GCC Mentor Connect Alumni/Student Mentoring Program.” In this year’s program, 32 students are connecting with 32 alumni mentors from 16 states to build professional skills and gain career insights.

• Students are excited about the fantastic renovation of Buhl Library. Attention now turns to the $40 million renovation of Rockwell Hall of Science, our 90-year-old flagship academic building.

• The College’s reputation among employers continues to be one of our most distinguishing qualities. Over 155 organizations hoping to recruit a Grover visited campus in late September. GCC’s placement rate is among the highest in the country.

•  The new MBA program is off to a strong start with 15 students, and the Board recently approved two new master’s degree programs in Accounting and Theology and Christian Ministry.

• With the conclusion of the fall athletic season, the Wolverines sit at the top of the conference for both the women’s and men’s all-sports trophies.

It’s a pleasure to confer regularly with President McNulty on these and many other matters. I speak for the entire Board in expressing my appreciation for his steady, faithful leadership.
