Wolverines finish 10th in both national football polls

The Grove City College football team concluded the 2023 season ranked 10th in NCAA Division III in both of the major national top 25 polls.

D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) both placed the Wolverines (11-1) 10th in the respective final 2023 polls. Grove City received 386 ballot points from the 25 D3football.com voters. The 49 AFCA voters awarded Grove City 731 total voter points.

Following its first-ever 10-0 regular season and the outright Presidents' Athletic Conference title, Grove City entered the NCAA Division III playoffs as the No. 18 team in the D3football.com poll and 16th in the coaches' poll.

Grove City defeated Susquehanna in the first round of the playoffs, 21-20, in Selinsgrove, Pa., November 18. That marked Grove City's first-ever NCAA playoff game and victory.

Seven days later, eventual national champion Cortland edged the visiting Wolverines, 25-24, in the second round of the Division III playoffs.

The 2023 season marked Grove City's first-ever appearance in each poll. The Wolverines set a single-season program record with 11 victories.
