Robert P. Murphy

Robert P. Murphy has a Ph.D. in economics from New York University and a B.A. in economics from Hillsdale College. He has been a Research Fellow at the Independent Institute since 2012, a Senior Fellow of the Mises Institute since 2017, and Chief Economist for infineo, a financial tech company putting life insurance on the blockchain, since 2022. He has served as Visiting Assistant Professor of economics at Hillsdale College, Research Assistant Professor with the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University, and Senior Economist at the Institute for Energy Research. 

Dr. Murphy is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications concentrating on capital & interest, as well as monetary theory and the business cycle. He has also written several books on economics for the layperson, including Choice: Cooperation, Enterprise, and Human Action (a distillation of the thought of Ludwig von Mises), The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism, and Understanding Money Mechanics. He is the host of the Bob Murphy Show.
