Princeton Review: GCC is one of America’s ‘Best Colleges’

Grove City College is one of America’s best colleges and ranked fourth in the nation for Best Career Services , according to The Princeton Review’s annual – and influential – guide to the nation’s outstanding colleges and universities.

Inclusion in the 2023 edition of “The Best 388 Colleges,” which was published this week, puts Grove City College among the top 15 percent of the nation’s higher education institutions. In addition to the Best Career Services ranking, the College is ranked 14th for Best Student Support and Counseling Services by The Princeton Review.

Outstanding academics, interesting professors, Christian community, high quality campus life, and an unwavering focus on student flourishing are among the factors that students value most about Grove City College, according to the guide.

“This is always a special recognition among the many higher education rankings released each year,” Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty ’80 said. “Based on empirical data, The Princeton Review’s recognition validates our longstanding commitment to academic excellence, a Christ-centered approach to student life and learning, and maintaining affordability to enable all students to realize an excellent return on investment.”

The educational testing and prep company’s guide also identifies the College as a “Best Value” and “Best Northeastern” choice for prospective students. Each year, the guide looks at a variety of student-centered metrics, including cost, value, academics, and quality of life when it evaluates schools for inclusion and routinely selects Grove City College for recognition.

The guide does not provide a numerical ranking for colleges but uses student survey data to highlight top performers in specific areas like career services and counseling.

The Career Services Office helps students discern their vocational strengths, develop resumes and interview skills, gain experience through internships, network with successful alumni, and secure good jobs after graduation. According to the guide, one student said, “The greatest strength of my school is how dedicated they are to helping students find a job and create a future. The Office of Career Services is dedicated to helping students in any way that they can and have special events to help students network.”

The Counseling Center  offers an array of mental health services, including individual counseling, consultations, groups, seminars, trainings, and crisis management interventions. As well as serving individual students, the Counseling Center reaches out to the entire campus community to help students understand issues that can affect them emotionally and psychologically.

The guide reports that many students are attracted to the College because of its Christ-centered learning and living environment. “The low cost of tuition is just gravy, as is the strong alumni network and ‘really good reputation with employers,’” according to the guide.
