New Financial Planning minor earns CFP certification

Grove City College’s new financial planning minor coursework has been approved as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board registered program.

The approval enables students who complete the minor to meet educational requirements necessary to sit for the CFP® certification exam, accelerating their path to certification and giving them a distinct competitive advantage as they launch their career in financial planning.

Offered through the Winklevoss School of Business’s Accounting and Finance Department, the 21-credit minor is open to students of all majors. The coursework includes classes in financial planning, tax planning, retirement savings and income planning, estate planning, investments, risk management and insurance, and a case-based capstone course.

According to Professor Nicole Stone, department chair, the CFP Board certification gives our students a clear path forward.

“When they graduate, they won’t just leave with a strong academic foundation, but they are also positioned to pursue the CFP certification more quickly, equipping them to pursue their calling to serve others through financial planning,” Stone said.

The new minor, first available in the 2025-26 academic year, is open to students of all majors.
