GCC Symphonic Band welcomes WM band to concert stage

At its season-opening-concert, the Grove City College Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble offers an evening of great music and a guest performance by the West Middlesex High School Concert Band

West Middlesex’s band will open the concert and join the College Symphonic Band for a combined performance of Claude T. Smith's "God of Our Fathers."

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. It is free and open to the public.

“Sharing a concert with a wonderful local high school band is a part of our outreach and community involvement,” said College Director of Bands Dr. Andrew Erb, professor of Music.

The Symphonic Band's program includes Claude T. Smith's "Eternal Father Strong to Save," Frank Ticheli's "Earth Song," and Frank Erickson's "3rd Symphony for Band." The Wind Ensemble will perform Andrew Perkin's "Clutch," Richard Saucedo's "Snow Caps," and the first movement (Gandalf) of Johan De Meij"s "Symphony #1--Lord of the Rings." The GCC trumpet ensemble will begin the evening with the playing of the National Anthem.
