Grove City College’s top singers will take the spotlight at a pair of upcoming concerts on campus.
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, the Grove City College Singers will perform in Harbison Chapel with special guest, the GCC Youth Chorus.
The GCC Singers, a women’s vocal ensemble, will perform selections including Gjeilo’s “Tundra,” Hagenberg’s “All Things New,“ and Fjellheim’s “Fairest Lord Jesus.“ The Youth Chorus, an ensemble of local children from third to seventh grade, will present “Cold Snap,” “Over the Rainbow,” and other selections. Dr. Stacy Paparone ’93, assistant chair and professor of Music, directs both ensembles.
At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 the College’s Concert Choir, Touring Choir, and Chamber Singers will present “Everlasting Light,” a light-themed concert, in Harbison Chapel.
The singers will perform a variety of illuminating selections, including Wilhousky's arrangement of "Heavenly Light," Christiansen's moving "Light Everlasting," the close harmonies of Whitacre's "Lux Aurumque," and Elaine Hagenberg's first multi-movement work, "Illuminare." The choirs are directed by Dr. Katherine Mueller, professor of Music and director of Choral Activities.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
