Career Fair set to be the biggest ever

Grove City College’s 18th Annual Career Fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the IM Room of the Physical Learning Center on campus.

The Career Fair is Grove City College’s signature recruiting and networking event. This year’s fair is slated to be the largest in College history, with more than 170 employer and graduate school recruiters and more than 1,000 students in attendance.

Past recruiters have had great success identifying high caliber students for their full-time positions, internship opportunities and graduate programs at the fair. Of the many recruiters participating in this year’s event, more than 140 of them are Grove City College alumni. Representatives from companies like Chick-Fil-A, Ryan Homes, PPG, the Pittsburgh Fellows and the FBI will be in attendance, as well as representatives from graduate schools around the country.

In the weeks leading up to the Career Fair, the College’s Career Services Office (CSO) has held a number of information sessions for students on resume writing, making, turning internships into full-time jobs, developing an “elevator pitch” for recruiters and other crucial job search skills. Students have also benefitted from pre-fair campus visits from a number of high-profile employers such as Amazon, PPG, Bechtel and the federal government.

Grove City’s Career Fair helps students get great jobs, and the College’s holistic approach to education helps graduates to do well in their careers and do good through service to their families, employers and communities.

As well as their outreach for the Career Fair, CSO works with alumni from all fields and industries throughout the school year to secure current students internships, job interviews and employment. Their efforts are visible through Grove City’s excellent reputation for job placement and return on investment.

Within six months of graduation, 97 percent of the Class of 2015 was either working or in graduate school. Over 20 years, a Grove City College degree yields a $453,000 return on investment, according to PayScale.com, which also reports an average early career salary of $48,100 and an average mid-career salary of $84,700 for alumni.
