GCC Singers, Youth Choir concert is Paparone’s swan song

The Grove City College Department of Music presents the GCC Singers and Youth Choir in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10 in Harbison Chapel on campus.

The concert, titled “Songs That Inspire,” will be livestreamed at gcc.edu/livemusic. It is free and open to the public. The GCC Singers will sing a selection of songs, including “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Let the River Run,” and join the Youth Choir for a number. The Youth Choir, featuring students in grades 3 to 7, will perform several songs on their own.

It also marks the final concert for ensemble director Dr. Stacy Paparone ’93, professor of Music, before she retires. To celebrate her legacy and influence as the Director of the Music Education program and Associate Chair of the Department of Music, alumni and friends will join the GCC Singers to perform Craig Hella Johnson’s “Will There Really Be a Morning?” A reception will follow in Rathburn Hall.

Dr. Jeffrey Tedford ’00, chair of the Department of Music, reflected on Paparone’s impact. “Dr. Paparone’s influence over almost 20 years has been felt by many in the Music Department and out of the Department. Since she was hired, nearly 200 students have graduated from our Music Education program and almost all are continuing to teach today. I have been blessed to work alongside Dr. Paparone and share in this adventure of teaching with my dear friend,” he said.
