Donica earns award for excellence in choral arts

Grove City College junior Tristan Donica was awarded the 2023 Philip H. Inman Excellence in Choral Conducting Arts Scholarship by the Beaver Valley Choral Society.

Donica, of Meyersdale, Pa., is a music education major concentrating on vocal studies. He is a member of the College’s Touring Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Sax Quintet, and Jazz Ensemble, where he plays saxophone and tuba.

Some of his accomplishments include being the featured vocalist with the GCC Jazz Ensemble and the Mercer community band, and the baritone soloist in Faure’s Requiem mass during the joined performance of the GCC Concert Choir and Touring Choir.

The Inman Scholarship is awarded annually to a music student at one of five western Pennsylvania colleges and universities who is focused on the choral arts. In addition to Grove City College, the participating schools are Carnegie Mellon and Duquesne universities, and Geneva and Westminster colleges.
