College hosts 5th annual Exercise Science Symposium

The Grove City College  Exercise Science Club and the Exercise Science Department will host the fifth annual Exercise Science Symposium on Saturday, April 6 on campus.

“Take Control of Your Health: Wellness, Exercise and Nutrition Symposium” runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features a day full of presentations on current research, findings and developments in the field of exercise science by leading sports medicine professionals. The symposium is free and open to the public.

Events include:

  • Yoga workshop by Dr. Sally Sherman at 9 a.m. in Room 25 of the J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center.
  • ACL Injury Prevention workshop by Dr. Paul Cialone, M.D. at 10 a.m. in Room 25 of the J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center.
  • An interview Dr. Dominic D’Agostino, research scientist at the Institute of Human and Machine Cognition and associate professor of the College of Medicine Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology at the University of South Florida, at 11 a.m. in Earl C. Gregg Lecture Hall of STEM Hall.
  • “HIIT the Pool: Cardiometabolic Effects of Aquatic Exercise Training,” a lecture by Dr. Elizabeth Nagle at 1 p.m. in the Atrium of STEM Hall.
  • “Necessity of Quality Sleep to Prevent and Combat Obesity,” a presentation by Dr. Christopher Kline at 2 p.m. in the Atrium of STEM Hall.
  • "Dietary Approaches for Diseases of Glucose Intolerance- From MetSyn to Advanced Stage Cancers," a lecture by Parker Hyde at 3 p.m.in the Atrium of STEM Hall.

The Exercise Science Club aims to promote health and fitness efforts on campus and in the community by providing events and education opportunities to students and community members. The symposium is sponsored by Grove City Medical Center.
