The Biblical & Theological Studies major offers several concentrations that prepare you for a range of careers in ministry following graduation. The intentional design of each concentration provides students the opportunity to uniquely prepare for and specifically pursue fields like missions, youth ministry, teaching, and research. Your first year at Grove City will consist of a core curriculum covering the breadth of the major, then faculty will help you distinguish which path is right for you based on your interests and professional goals after graduation.
The Biblical Exegesis concentration is geared toward students interested in the rigorous academics involved in biblical interpretation. Students who take this route will likely go on to pursue higher education, teach at the collegiate level, or delve into research. At the completion of this course of study, students will be able to perform close readings of biblical text with the use of a biblical language.
The Biblical studies concentration is for students who are interested in the entire scope of what the Biblical & Theological Studies department offers. Students who choose this path have the freedom to double major and will take courses overviewing biblical texts, biblical interpretation, and theology.
The Christian Ministry concentration is for students interested in jumping into ministry immediately after graduation. Whether you are interested in leading adults or the youth, the curriculum will focus on how to practically disciple the body of Christ. Students who choose this concentration will graduate with maturing ministry skills as well as demonstrate biblical and theological reflection on ministry practice.
The Global Christianity concentration focuses on how to serve Christ’s church through domestic or international missions. The curriculum will concentrate on world religions, theology, and cross-cultural relations. Students who graduate under this concentration will honor the global nature of Christian theology and effectively hold constructive conversations about Christianity with those of other religions and worldviews.
The Pastoral & Theological concentration is pre-seminary preparation, giving you an education across disciplines in theology, practical ministry and global Christianity. Students who choose this concentration will engage with Christian scripture exegetically and theologically and apply that knowledge to the church.
