‘Meet the Fleet’ brings HopeCAT artists to campus

Grove City College is partnering with Hope Center for Arts and Technology, Inc. (HopeCAT) to present "Meet the Fleet," an exhibit featuring the work of area artists who serve the community.

HopeCAT, based in Sharon, Pa., is a non-profit organization committed to transforming lives and communities through the power of arts and education.

The artists featured in “Meet the Fleet” teach HopeCAT classes and have been key in making it a regional hub for arts and community engagement through gallery openings, exhibitions, and partnerships with local schools and other non-profits.

They include Missy Rogers, Francesca Baldarelli, Ashley Vaughan, Christian Kuharik, Carol Novosel, Jeremiah Ibarra, Lovie Djan, Emerson Goheen, and Daphine Postl.

“We are excited to collaborate with HopeCAT, which is doing amazing things for the surrounding areas. This show is a wonderful way to introduce our students and the wider Grove City community to these artists and the great work that HopeCAT does,” Hilary Walczak ’09, director of College Archives and Galleries, said.

In addition to art classes for children, adults, and people in recovery, HopeCAT provides career training in high-demand fields through their Adult Training Programs: Medical Assistant, EMT, and Construction Trades. Dr. Connie Nichols ’93, chair of the Grove City College Department of Education, serves on the organization’s board of directors.

The exhibit opens Thursday, Sept. 5 in the Pew Fine Arts Center Gallery on campus and runs through Oct. 12. The gallery is free and open to the public. The artists’ reception is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 in the gallery. Gallery hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12.
