Christian philosopher C. Stephen Evans to visit campus

Grove City College will host a lecture by philosopher C. Stephen Evans at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28 in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters on campus.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Evans, the University Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at Baylor University, will discuss “Thinking Radically—and Biblically—About Ethics.” While on campus, Evans is also set to speak during Thursday’s chapel service, meet with students in class, and participate in a question-and-answer session before his formal lecture.

"Evans is a rare breed, combining world-class scholarship with a passion and gift for communicating to non-specialists. His campus talks are sure to be both accessible enough to benefit newcomers to philosophy and rich enough to interest disciplinary experts. Grove City College is blessed to have him on campus," Ryan West, assistant professor of Philosophy, said.

A prolific and widely published author, Evans’ most recent books are “A History of Western Philosophy: From the Pre-Socratics to Postmodernism” and “Why Christian Faith Still Makes Sense." His work focuses on the philosophy of religion and the relationship of psychology and Christianity. Evans is one of the country’s leading experts on the work of Søren Kierkegaard and serves as the director of the Baylor Center for Christian Philosophy and Distinguished Senior Fellow in the Institute for Studies of Religion at that university.
