Grove City College's 33-credit Master of Science in Kinesiology prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to confidently transition into a career in the exercise science field. The program begins in the fall of 2025, with enrollment occurring on rolling basis.
With personal health and fitness occupying much of our nation's attention, the program – a graduate degree in kinesiology, stressing and tying together the studies of anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition and exercise – is an excellent way to tap into a plentiful job market whose goal is the promotion of a healthier nation through exercise and fitness programs.
This hybrid program emphasizes the preparation of the students for corporate and community fitness programs, health clubs, and similar fitness-related industries. Positions in sales or marketing of medical, fitness, sports supplements and sports-related equipment may also be appropriate for students with this degree. In addition, the program will prepare students for doctoral programs in areas related to exercise science and carry out research that advances the emerging body of literature in human health, fitness, and performance.

Kinesiology is the study of movement. In a kinesiology master’s program, you’ll study human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, motor control and learning, injury prevention, sport nutrition, etc. You’ll learn how to collect and analyze data, how to apply scientific research to your practice, and how to create evidence-based exercise programs.
This broad knowledge base means that kinesiology graduates can apply their skills to a wide range of jobs. For example, the American Kinesiology Association lists nearly 30 kinesiology career options. These range from sport and fitness careers, such as personal trainer or coach, to healthcare careers, such as exercise physiologist or occupational therapist.
Some graduates use their kinesiology master’s to pursue additional advanced education, like medical or physical therapy school. And others help to advance our collective knowledge of human movement by becoming researchers or teachers.

Students are expected to enter the M.S. in Kinesiology program with a foundation of classroom and lab work in anatomy & physiology, biology, chemistry and physics, along with biomechanics, exercise physiology and nutrition course work.
