Sociology students take prizes at regional symposium

Grove City College sociology students won awards for their research work at the Northeast Ohio Undergraduate Sociological Symposium (NEOUSS) at the College of Wooster.

Emma Thomas ’19 earned first place for her research poster "The Socialization of Environmental Views: A Study on How Environmentally Friendly Behaviors Are Formed." The poster presented her study of on how people's views on the environment are shaped first by family and then furthered in their own lives as adults.

Emily Dellinger ’17 earned third place for her paper "Who is Lovin' You? A Content Analysis of Cuddling Websites." It is a repeat victory for Dellinger, who took the same prize at NEOUSS in 2016.

More than 100 students from 20 western Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio colleges and universities presented research papers and research posters at the symposium on Saturday, April 8 in Wooster, Ohio.

“It was a great experience for the students and really shows the exceptionally high and professional quality of research our sociology students are doing at Grove City College,” Dr. William P. Anderson, Jr., professor of Sociology, said.

Other students who presented their work at the symposium are:
